Railway Station Café, Junee

If you like a slice of nostalgia with your breakfast or lunch, then dining at the Railway Station Café is in order for you. The ornate, turn-of-the-century building features 3-metre mirrors, 6-metre ceilings, cast iron columns, oak counters and an old wood fire oven. It is home seven days a week for owner Debbie, who with husband Jason, also operate the popular Backdoor Café in Wagga Wagga.

When the opportunity to open a café at the Railway building came up six years ago, the Junee locals jumped at the chance. Business has been bustling since the café’s doors opened and you’ll find Debbie working the front and back of the café throughout the day, loving the opportunity to talk with customers, many of them long-time patrons.

For customers, the appeal is both in the building and the delicious offerings that range from traditional morning and afternoon teas consisting of homemade cakes, pies, and fudges baked daily, to full sit-down lunches and dinners and a takeaway menu. Diners love the lamb burger, created with locally purchased Junee lambs.

The menu caters for special dietary requirements including gluten-free food. Debbie and her team are also kept busy year-round with catering services for weddings and other functions.
