O’Donnells Café, Griffith
When Suzy and Martin O’Donnell opened O’Donnells Café in Griffith eight years ago, devotees of their previous restaurant eagerly followed. Their focus on fresh, clean flavours enhanced by the ready supply of organic fruit, vegetables and herbs from their own organic farm has meant the café has followed a path of individual style and personal satisfaction.
The diverse, organic produce are key ingredients in the menu and form an ideal basis for their range of delicious jams, preserves and juices. A blackboard features modern specials focusing on current seasonal produce and culinary trends.
Suzy, whose family has been in the local catering industry since 1963, is the face of the café. She thrives on the hustle and bustle, the focus on fresh and healthy foods, and the rapport with customers and staff, many of whom she says are her café family. Martin has been farming organically for nearly 15 years, supplying markets in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, and aims to promote organics more locally with the introduction of on-farm visits later this year.
